Child Safeguarding Statement for Adverts

TITLE: Project officer

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Family protection (parent service)

LOCATION: Guangzhou

 

GRADE: Grade 5

CONTRACT LENGTH: fix term

POST STATUS: national only

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The role holder will be expect to act as trainer of Family Protection on Children, to provide direct services to parents, to conduct ToT and to develop the courses for parents in China.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Budget Responsibilities:  n/a

Role Dimensions:

Internal: FP team, Operations team, and supporting functions across SC China, TAs across SCI

External: Governmental and public institutions, children, young people, parents, teachers, other community members, other NGOs, academic institutions, media, and donors

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :  

l  Act as core trainer for implementing both Mentor workshops [both level 1 and level 2] of Parenting without Violence.

l  Assist the Lead of Family Protection to lead the core trainer team to provide one to one supervision and peer learning activities for mentor candidates and facilitator candidates.

l  Assist the Lead of Family Protection to lead the core trainer team to provide derict technical support for other projects, e.g. projects of 0-6, 6-14,15+ etc.

l  To lead the revision and upgrading of the procedure maps of family protection services, group sessions, contributes to the contextualization of Parenting without Violence Common Approach.

l  To ensure accountability and quality of service delivery together with stakeholders.

l  To contribute to the quarterly reporting, IPTT, and donor reporting according to the PwV implementation.

l  To contribute to the communications needs of the organization, helping with reports and case studies that will support fund-raising or other needs.

l  To work with other stakeholders (children, NGOs, Donors, Government Departments) engaged in PwV activities in order to strengthen system building and to share technical resources in the interests of greater efficiency and effectiveness.

l  To support the effective integration of activities into projects paying particular attention to Save the Children’s activities in child rights, child participation and protection.

l  To comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s child safeguarding and other policies.

l  To perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time in order to ensure the smooth running of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS 

A professional qualification at least bachelor degree or equivalent in a related subject such as education, community management, communication, marketing and or other related subject. If Post holder has experience in family/adult education service will be priority.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

 

          A minimum of three years’ working with caregivers or families,or service experience on adult education.

          Solid understanding of family education and Parenting without Violence.

          Master skills of parent workshops and parent talks

          Good communication, and negotiation skills, and be willing to communicate with people of different backgrounds, including in rural ethinic minority areas

          Be a quick learner and innovator

          Not only a positive member in teamwork but a result-oriented leader to complete all work independently

          A flexible approach to work with good time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadline

          Fluent in Mandarin both spoken and written, fair in English written.

          Willing and be able to travel extensively and regularly

          An understanding of and commitment to, the aims of SC as an organization working for social change and active in the promotion of the rights of the child

          Able to carry out all appointed work in a non-political and non-discriminatory manner

          A commitment to support for cross-organizational initiatives and to team working and understanding of how to contribute to this.

 

Desirable

 

·         Solid understanding approach of curriculum development, especially facilitation skills.

The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
