 TITLE:  Communications and Campaign Officer

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Program Development, Quality, Advocacy, Communications and Campaign

LOCATION: Beijing

GRADE: 5

CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed Term

POST STATUS: National post

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programmes; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Save the Children is looking for an energetic and proactive individual with a passion for communications, campaign and branding work, with experience of developing powerful communication products including articles, case stories, videos and managing social media platforms and website.

 

The role holder is responsible for implementing communication, campaign and branding work plan. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Communications and Campaign Manager

Staff reporting to this post: N/A

Budget Responsibilities: No

Role Dimensions: Interpersonal contact regular and varied internally and externally, involved in frequent contact with programme teams, and networking with external social platforms, NGOs and suppliers to increase our reach and impact.

The role holder will need to travel to programme site sometimes.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

 

Develop good quality communications content and products (30%)

·         Develop compelling original communication products including social media articles, videos, newsletter, annual report, case stories etc. tailored for various audiences.

·         Engage staff, beneficiaries, partners, KOLs as contributors in the production of the communications content.

·         Conduct survey and analysis of review record to continue to improve the quality the communications content and products.

 

Manage social media and website and external network for publicity (30%)

·         Develop annual work plan for social media and website management informed by data.

·         Update contents on SC’s social media platforms(Weibo, Wechat, Douyin) and website regularly and timely based on established procedures.

·         Establish collaboration with external social platforms or organizations to increase our reach.

·         Track the trend and new approaches for digital communications and bring changes to leverage our impact.

 

Support program communications and campaign work (20%)

·         Support programs team in the development of communications and campaign plans, especially on engaging approaches, experienced external partners, and documenting and disseminating results.

·         Provide feedback towards the communication products including videos, posters, social media articles etc. worked out by programme teams.

 

Branding Management (10%)

·         Update branding guideline, manage the branding assets.

·         Ensure that programme activities and communications are aligned with brand values and guidelines.

·         Develop creative visual branding products (such as notebooks, T-shirts, bags, ect) with supplier and ensure the quality and timely delivery.

 

Manage communications and campaign resources and assets (10%)

·         Collect and update communications resources on server and Content Hub.

 

 

·         Other tasks:

The role holder will also undertake tasks from line manager based on needs, such as tracking progress of workplan, provide progress and information on communication and campaign that Asia Regional Office needs.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

·         At least 1 year experience relevant to this position;

·         Bachelor degree or above, major in Communications, Journalism, media production, marketing/public relations is preferable;

·         Experience with social media and digital communications, have a good understanding with its strategy and approaches;

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English;

·         Good people and interpersonal management, collaboration, and relationship building skills;

·         An understanding of and commitment to, the aims of Save the Children as an organization working for social change and active in the promotion of the rights of the child;

·         Ability to operate within a predominantly administratively self-servicing environment.

 

Desirable

·         Photography and video editing skills;

·         Creativity and innovation;

·         Self-motivated and quick learner;
